Miss Samantha Win - Episode 462


Miss Samantha Win is a martial arts practitioner and actor from Barrie, Ontario. Now living in California, she has been featured in the films Wonderwoman and Man of Steel.

Indulging in your pain. Knowing that that pain is making you stronger, just like in training, all the times you're suffering, you're so much stronger when you come out of it. Just knowing that and having experienced that on a physical level gave me a lot more emotional strength than I was expecting.

After being literally forced to train in jiujitsu at age 4, Miss Samantha Win has made martial arts her lifestyle all through her life. At a very young age, Miss Win became aware that acting and martial arts can go together. She has been featured in the films Wonderwoman and Man of Steel, to say the least. Miss Win, aka Samantha Jo, has also represented Canada for wushu and won a bronze medal at the 2007 World Wushu Championships. Episode 458 - Professor David Meyer


Professor David Meyer is a martial arts practitioner and instructor who teaches how can we maximize nutrition. He is a 2019 IBJJF Champion.

He (Sensei Jack Seki) used to tell us that you're always armed. You're armed with the ground. He said it's better than a club, it's better than a knife because you can hit someone with the Earth. What he meant by that is you could throw them, if you want, head first to the ground and coming from 5 feet high in the air however they are when you throw them, they're not going to get up.

Most of us martial artists may say that the reason for training is because of bullying. Professor David Meyer's story is not far from it because he went to a local community college to train at age 6 with his brother who was being bullied. Interestingly enough, during their time, they chose to train with jiujitsu. Today, Professor David Meyer, aside from being a defending IBJJF Champion at his weight class, is an advocate of proper nutrition and living vegan/vegetarian. Everything was a rollercoaster. Once I've found martial arts, that kind of transformed things. I was able to learn about meditation and being still. Things now in my life are more constant. Things don't bother me as much as before.

One of the things I tell people who I train now is the less ego you have in your practice, the better your practice and the higher your skill is going to be. The more self-less you can be in your practice, the higher your skills are going to end up being.

Sensei Pedro is world renowned for his judo expertise, coaching ability, and training methods. During the 1999 and 2004 Olympic Summer Games, Sensei Pedro won bronze medals for his Judo competitions. He is now coach of the US Judo Team that he helped bring home gold and silver medals. Professor Cindy Hales is a late-bloomer when it came to discovering the martial arts. She started her training in Jiu Jitsu at 26 upon finding a Marcelo Alonso gym on her way home from work after watching UFC tapes of Royce Gracie. With a single-minded pursuit, she chose to continue with her training above everything else. Her fierce passion and relentless determination for the art allowed her to bounce back from serious injuries and to also give back to the community through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Professor Hales is currently holding classes in her gym, Sleeper Jiu Jitsu. Listen to find out more!

Episode 394 - Master Dylan Nadler


Master Dylan Nadler is a martial arts practitioner and instructor from Canada. He is the founder of Mindlock Sports Psychology, which focuses on helping athletes with their psychological health.

One of the masters who are there is trying to show off, he went up the mountain and when he came back, he ended up throwing up. It's a funny story just to show that it doesn't matter where you come from or what your experiences are, hardwork is hardwork.

Master Dylan Nadler - Episode 394

Started training taekwondo at 5, Master Dylan Nadler has found joy in training as a young child. Kicking his way to the martial arts, Master Nadler is a multi-awarded taekwondo practitioner and he became a 2-time US Open gold medallist. He has always wanted to become a part of the Canadian national team and he succeeded twice. Master Nadler studied psychology and then founded Mindlock, a sports psychology facility that focuses on an athlete's mental health. Listen to find out more!
