Born into Judo, his father is a Judo instructor and his family is into it as well. Sensei Jimmy Pedro is one of the most decorated judo players in American history. Sensei Pedro is world renowned for his judo expertise, coaching ability, and training methods. During the 1999 and 2004 Olympic Summer Games, Sensei Pedro won bronze medals for his Judo competitions. He is now coach of the US Judo Team that he helped bring home gold and silver medals. Professor Cindy Hales practices Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and an instructor from Washington. She was once a professional MMA fighter and now runs Sleeper Jiu Jitsu in Seattle.

I like to show people that if you do these things, you may not win. But, you'll get these great stories and adventures and you'll internally learn about your self. You don't really need a medal.

Professor Cindy Hales – Episode 396

Professor Cindy Hales is a late-bloomer when it came to discovering the martial arts. She started her training in Jiu Jitsu at 26 upon finding a Marcelo Alonso gym on her way home from work after watching UFC tapes of Royce Gracie. With a single-minded pursuit, she chose to continue with her training above everything else. Her fierce passion and relentless determination for the art allowed her to bounce back from serious injuries and to also give back to the community through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Professor Hales is currently holding classes in her gym, Sleeper Jiu Jitsu. Listen to find out more!

Episode 394 - Master Dylan Nadler


Master Dylan Nadler is a martial arts practitioner and instructor from Canada. He is the founder of Mindlock Sports Psychology, which focuses on helping athletes with their psychological health.

One of the masters who are there is trying to show off, he went up the mountain and when he came back, he ended up throwing up. It's a funny story just to show that it doesn't matter where you come from or what your experiences are, hardwork is hardwork.

Started training taekwondo at 5, Master Dylan Nadler has found joy in training as a young child. Kicking his way to the martial arts, Master Nadler is a multi-awarded taekwondo practitioner and he became a 2-time US Open gold medallist. He has always wanted to become a part of the Canadian national team and he succeeded twice. Master Nadler studied psychology and then founded Mindlock, a sports psychology facility that focuses on an athlete's mental health. Listen to find out more!

Episode 392 - Grandmaster Quynh Ngo


Grandmaster Quynh Ngo is a martial arts practitioner and instructor of Cuong Nhu, a martial art that was founded by his father, Grandmaster Ngo Dong.

In martial arts, it's not the goat to get to green belt,  brown belt, black belt or to kick in the face, the goal is to be better now that you were a month ago.

Not everyone has an opportunity to continue a legacy. A legacy that has been started by his father in the form of a martial art called Cuong Nhu. Grandmaster Quyng Ngo started in martial arts as soon as he was born, in fact, Cuong Nhu was called his twin because he was born the same year the martial art was founded. It started in Vietnam and Grandmaster Ngo's father brought it to Florida and it has grown to over 50 dojos today.
