Episode 470 - Sifu Nathan Marinone


Sifu Nathan Marinone is a martial arts practitioner and instructor of various martial arts disciplines. He founded the Phoenix Martial Arts of Connecticut.

I used to tell people, sometimes when you look into the mirror, you don't always like what you see. You can be overweight, you can be a little older than you want to be, you can be out of shape, maybe a few injuries here and there, right? But if you don't ever look into that mirror, you'll never get that self-realization. You'll never begin to understand where you are and where you could grow from.

For a ten-year-old kid, who trained in the basement of a neighbor across the street who happens to be a taekwondo instructor, martial arts was never a serious matter. Sifu Nathan Marinone has been training on his own way ever since. Sifu Maronone has trained in a lot of martial arts disciplines namely: Jeet Kune Do, French Savate, Thai Boxing, Wing Chun Kung Fu, The Filipino Martial Arts, The Indonesian Martial Arts, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Catch Wrestling. With the knowledge from all the training, Sifu Marinone founded the Phoenix Martial Arts of Connecticut which teaches a unique take on the mixed martial arts. Sensei TJ Storm is a martial arts practitioner, actor, and instructor of motion capture at the Mind's Eye Tribe in Los Angeles, California.

The ability to use martial arts to master a thing well enough that when somebody uses just fury against you and you respond calmly and with great skill, that's really enticing to be able to own that skill.

When your mother wants you to do martial arts, you do it. Initially, Sensei TJ Storm wanted to learn piano but he instead had a free martial arts class and he never looked back. Today, Sensei Storm has been part of many video games and films as an actor and motion capture. Films such as Godzilla, Deadpool, and Captain America have been part of his portfolio, to say the least. Episode 466 - Mr. Jason Davis


Mr. Jason Davis is a martial arts practitioner and he is the founder of the Adaptive Martial Arts Association (AMAA).

Not as much was known about disabilities then. And over the phone, my parents were told that I couldn't train and I never would be able to train and it didn't actually make sense. It was a pretty big blow and I didn't understand because that was the first time I was ever told that I couldn't do something.

Mr. Jason Davis - Episode 466

Martial arts changed his life. That sums up what the journey is like for Mr. Jason Davis. He was born with cerebral palsy and he was thought of not going to survive by the doctors at that time. When Mr. Jason Davis was 8 years old, he was turned away from a martial arts school because of his condition. Today, he leads the Adaptive Martial Arts Association (AMAA), an organization he founded, which aims to help adaptive individuals to pursue their journies into the martial arts.
